I’ve been reflecting a lot lately on my pregnancy and life since my baby was born.  Outside of the obvious miracle of giving birth to my beautiful daughter, labor and delivery were pretty straightforward. I read books about pregnancy and childbirth, but I never really considered what happens after that. Pregnancy was difficult for me both physically and mentally, so I thought if I could get through that and natural childbirth surely I could handle the aftermath. I was wrong.

Prenatal Depression. It's a thing.

Dr. Brogan was talking about checking B12, Vitamin D, thyroid levels (and some other things I don't remember) and about healing the gut to heal depression. Depression not only post partum but in all stages of life.  Looking back at the other times in my life when I have felt that way, it totally makes sense.  Regardless of the emotional stress that was going on at the time, hormonally and bacterially, something was off that I was blaming on my mind.
